Solo Rules

Summary: The braking system is completely unrestricted with the exception that we are required to maintain a functional emergency brake.

16.1.C. Brakes, including calipers, caliper mounts, disks, drums, lines, backing plates, pedals, boosters, master cylinders, handles, ABS systems, proportioning valves, etc. are unrestricted. Brake rotor/drum friction surfaces must be 100% ferrous metallic. Carbon or ceramic composite brake components (except pads) are expressly prohibited. Standard parts, per 12.4, are exempt from this restriction. A functional, redundant emergency (parking) brake must be present.

ABS

I converted to the 01+ system (using a brick from an 05 MSM car). Had to get a wiring harness from an 05 to get the appropriate connector, but the wiring itself wasn't too bad with the harness out of the car. My wiring crossover reference between years is here. Works great.

Bosch

Bosch apparently makes a kickass 4-channel customizable system that costs 6000$. Here's some info about it. :)

Proportioning Valve

Should we get one of these? I can probably just steal the one off the KLiata if we want it, and put that back to fully stock brake proportioning.

Pads

Using Carbotech AX-6 pads for now.

Calipers

Currently Stock. I've ordered the Flyin Miata little big brake kit, with both the 9" and 10" caliper adapters. I'll try out the 9" and see if it's good enough. If not, we can jump up to the 10" for a little weight gain.

For the rear, Wilwood apparently just started making a Powerlite caliper with integrated hand brake. Can make something for the rear out of it: http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=11370

Rotors

Stock 9" 1.6 rotors.

Lines

Will be replacing with SS lines with the FM kit comes in.
